I am soo excited about this set upI have had this idea in my head for at least 3 months, finally my husband and I have found time to make it true . All we needed : wooden chest/bench , about 4,5 meter fabric ,wall of our living room, background stand and a few vintage toys. Our cheapest set up till now. )) Do you have such stuff at your home or studio ? Then hurry up ! I share with you my DIY project !!! Add a bit creativity to your sessions, your customers will be impressed !
For my set up I used :1. Wooden chest ( could be bank as well ): 118 cm ( 46,5 inches ) length , 47 cm ( 18,5 inches ) height, 37 cm ( 14,5 inches .) width.
2. Background stand .
3. synthetic fabric about 4,5 meter ( you could also use : velvet, linen, viscose, cotton, acrylic).
Distance between holders ( for background stand ) should be done according next calcullations:
Chest / bank length + 35-40 cm ( 13,5 -15,5 inches ) = distance between holders.
The color of fabric should match the color of the wall !!! ( in our case the wall was beige so I have chosen fabric of light color as well ).Totally I used 4,5 meter fabric ( if you will make matching pillow cases then + 1 meter more ).
The width of 1 curtain for my set up : 170 cm ( 67 inches )The length of 1 curtain about 185-190 cm ( 75 inches ) + consider 10 cm more length ( about 4 inches ) that you will sew on the edge to put fabric on the holder.
As a tiebacks for the curtains I used cotton lace 36 cm ( 14,5 inches ) and just sewed together. To fill the middle part between curtain I used 215 cm ( 85 inches ) length fabric , 40 cm ( 16 inches ) height + 10 cm ( 4 inches ) that you will sew on the edge to put it on the holder. From fabric rests I made chest cover , in my case it was : 145 cm length ( 57 inches ) and 100 cm ( 40 inches ) width .
To make the bottom ruffles I used 12 cm ( 5 inches ) fabric and 2*lengths of our cover ( 290 cm or 114 inches ). Detailed description how to make ruffles you can find here :https://blog.fabrics-store.com/2016/07/04/sewing-glossary-how-to-sew-and-attach-a-ruffle-tutorial/?fbclid=IwAR2yak7BSLrwEoEs8Ur3TPCRUBtu54Cf03SiCq_cG0Yy-ZI7zeqTNDvZrNA
As a carpet I also used fabric ( soft suede fabric = faux leather )Pillow cases I also made myself, detailed DIY lesson on this you can watch here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x22NFbyfQp8&fbclid=IwAR3vN4Q0VBqZWaz9NU4J4fe3igdqA0rxkieyExejCtXAomLPqDf6GUseNE0
